New Mexico Plays Host to Colorado State Wednesday Night

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The University of New Mexico women's basketball team returns home on a five game winning streak, to play host to the Rams of Colorado State University Wednesday night. The Lobos winners of seven of their last eight are 17-7 on the season and 7-4 in the MWC, while the Rams are 7-16 overall and 2-9 in the conference. UNM will also give away red and black Lobo duffle bags, courtesy of Santa Ana Star Casino, to the first 7,500 fans. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM at The Pit and can be heard live on 610 AM The Sports Animal.

TONIGHT'S GAME: Tonight's game features the Lobos of the University of New Mexico playing host to the Rams of Colorado State University in a Mountain West Conference game. The first 7,500 fans into the game on Wednesday night will receive a red and black Lobo duffle bag courtesy of Santa Ana Star Casino.

SCOUTING THE LOBOS: New Mexico is 17-7 this season and 7-4 in the MWC with victories over Florida Atlantic (74-44), No. 25 Texas (63-60), Georgia Southern (64-43), Siena (78-39), New Mexico State (81-47 and 65-45), at Arizona (76-63), Sam Houston State (77-41), UCLA (72-63), Northern Arizona (62-51), Colorado State (73-42), Air Force (60-46), UNLV (77-56), San Diego State (76-46), Wyoming (50-43), Utah (73-65) and BYU (80-75 OT) and losses to No. 12/13 Arizona State (67-49), Nebraska (66-59), No. 7/8 Oklahoma (80-58), Wyoming (54-51), Utah (49-48), BYU (63-59) and TCU (67-43). UNM is led in scoring by senior Julie Briody at 15.0 ppg and rebounding by junior Dionne Marsh at 6.8 rpg. Leading the Lobos in assists is senior Katie Montgomery at 3.5 apg.

SCOUTING THE RAMS: Colorado State is 7-16 on the year and 2-9 in the conference with wins over UMKC (89-72), Idaho (88-68), Northern Colorado (59-48), San Jose State (76-57), Panhandle State (76-64) and Air Force twice (65-56, 61-49) and losses to San Francisco (62-51), Pacific (71-59), Western Carolina (64-60), Colorado (56-51), Denver (65-53), Connecticut (93-58), New Mexico State (71-55), TCU twice (86-36, 85-67), Utah twice (73-57, 64-49), New Mexico (73-42), BYU (69-56), San Diego State (75-66), Wyoming (78-66) and UNLV (57-46) The Rams are led in scoring by Sara Hunter at 12.0 ppg and rebounding by Marilyn Moulton at 8.4 rpg. Leading them in assists is Hunter at 2.3 apg.

THE COACHES: UNM is led by head coach Don Flanagan who enters his 12th season at New Mexico. Flanagan is 256-111 at UNM. The head coach of Colorado State is Jen Warden who is in her second season as a Ram and fifth overall. Warden has a record of 16-36 at CSU and 45-95 overall.

THE SERIES: This will be the second of two meetings between New Mexico and Colorado State, with the Lobos winning the first meeting 73-42 in Fort Collins. This will be the 54th meeting overall with the Rams holding a 27-26 edge, but the Lobos are 15-10 in The Pit and have won the last six meetings overall.
