ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- New Mexico women's basketball hosts No. 18 Utah Saturday at 1 p.m. inside The Pit. The Lobos face the nationally-ranked Utes for the second time this season and for the 51st meeting all-time. UNM is 14-11 overall and 6-6 in the Mountain West Conference. Utah remains the only undefeated team in the league at 11-0 and have a 22-3 overall mark. The game will be broadcast on 610 AM The Sports Animal with Joe Behrend calling the action.

Against Utah (22-3, 11-0): This will be just the 51st meeting between UNM and Utah. The Utes hold the series lead at 43-17, but are just 14-13 in The Pit. On Jan. 23. Utah beat UNM, 60-57, in Salt Lake City.

Up Next: The Lobos will play two road games - at BYU and UNLV - before returning home on Saturday, March 8 at 2 p.m. against Colorado State. March 8 will be Senior Day for Brandi Kimble and Dionne Marsh and the final home game of the regular season for the Lobos.


• Crowd Factor ... Lobo women's basketball crowds are at The Pit are the best and have ranked in the NCAA Top Five in average attendance for the past seven years. The Lobos cracked the 8,000 average mark following the Dec. 18 crowd of 8,711 against Stanford. UNM is averaging 8,465 fans in 16 home games of the season. The largest crowd at The Pit this season was 11,942 against UNLV on Feb. 2 for Pack The Pit. The Lobos are currently seventh in the nation in home attendance. Lobo fans have two games to move back up into fifth place.

• HopeLine drop-off program ... Lobo fans are encouraged to bring old wireless phones and accessories for the Verizon Wireless HopeLine program to dropboxes on Saturday against Utah. HopeLine recycles old wireless phones for use by victims on domestic violence.

Last Time Out - vs. Air Force - W, 79-40 ... Senior forward Dionne Marsh scored a game-high 17 points as New Mexico rolled passed Air Force, 79-40. Sophomore Georonika Jackson recorded her career-high, adding 10 points as the Lobos improved to 14-11 overall and 6-6 in the Mountain West Conference. The game started off slowly with the Lobos taking a slim 4-3 lead with 15:24 left in the first half, but New Mexico rattled off an impressive 14-0 run to stretch their lead to 18-3 with 9:07 left in the half. The Lobos went into the break up, 35-15, their largest lead of the half. The stifling Lobos defense held the Falcons to their lowest first-half output of the season. The Lobos continued to punish Air Force, outscoring the Falcons, 44-25, in the second half. New Mexico had one of their best defensive efforts of the season, holding the Falcons to a season-low 14 field goals and 25.9 percent shooting from the field. Marsh was an impressive 8 of 10 from the field, connecting on her ninth career three-pointer, and adding eight rebounds. All 13 Lobos scored in the game.

About No. 18/18 Utah (22-3, 11-0) ... The Utes are undefeated in Mountain West Conference play and bring a 17-game winning streak into The Pit. Utah will be the third nationally-ranked team to come to The Pit this season.

Marsh's Mark ... Dionne Marsh recorded the 12th double-double of her career on Feb. 13 against San Diego State with 15 points and 11 rebounds, her second double-double of the season.

Marsh is one of 12 Lobos who is a member of the 1,000-point/500-rebound club. Marsh has the opportunity to become the Lobos' all-time leading scorer and one of the top rebounders in program history.

On the scoring side of the box, Marsh needs 37 points to move into second past Jordan Adams (1999-2003) and 75 to take the lead from Abby Garchek (1993-97) on the Lobo all-time career scoring list.

The senior from Flower Mound, Texas, moved into seventh place on the UNM all-time rebound list with 8 on Feb. 20 against SDSU. Marsh needs 20 rebounds to move into sixth place.

Nimble Kimble ... Senior Brandi Kimble has the chance to move into the Top 10 UNM career steals list this season. She needs 4 steals to crack the Top 10.

Hosting, Again ... The Pit will be the site of the NCAA Women's Basketball First and Second Rounds in 2008, 2009, and 2010. The dates in 2008 are March 22 and 24. The NCAA women's basketball staff was on site Tuesday, Dec. 18, for UNM's dress rehearsal game. Every host site of an NCAA basketball round must host the staff for one game during the season leading up to the hosting round.
