New Mexico Spring Game Set For April 16

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- New Mexico will open spring football practice on March 22 and conclude with the annual Cherry-Silver Spring Game on April 16, head coach Mike Locksley has announced.

The spring game will kick at 2 p.m. MT inside University Stadium. The game will be available via GoLobos.com. UNM will provide a live broadcast of the game as well as GameTracker. Following the Cherry-Silver game, Lobo fans are encouraged to attend the UNM baseball game against Utah at 6 p.m. MT in Isotopes Park.

The football squad will begin workouts March 22, 24 and 26 during the first week of drills. UNM continues practice the following week on March 28, 30, 31 and April 2. The Lobos will then be in a Monday-Wednesday-Friday-Saturday mode the final two weeks. UNM has practices scheduled for April 4, 6, 8 and April 9. The final week of the spring will include practices on April 11, 13 and 15 before the Cherry-Silver game on April 16.

The annual Lobo football alumni and first-team donors event will be held during the evening of April 15.

UNM returns 19 starters in 2011 including four all-Mountain West Conference honorees.
