ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - New Mexico volleyball head coach Kelley McKee and her staff continue to improve the Lobo volleyball program with size and athleticism after signing three talented players to National Letters of Intent during the fall signing period. The class includes Joelle Ingram (Tucson, Ariz.), Sarah Kwasigroch (Palos Park, Ill.) and Gayle Tripp (Rio Rancho, N.M.). The players will be eligible for the 2005 season. Below is a profile on each of the signees:
SARAH KWASIGROCH 5-10 Setter Palos Park, Ill. (Carl Sandburg High School)
Kwasigroch lettered and started all four years at Sandburg High School. This extremely talented setter will contribute to the Lobos immediately. Among her accomplishments:

-- Chicago Tribune All-State-Special Mention - (2001, `02, `03, `04)
-- SICA West All-Conference - (2001, `02, `03, `04)

-- Led team to second-place finish at Illinois State Tournament - 2001
-- Class AA Illinois State All Tournament Team - 2001
-- Student Sports.com - Listed as one of the top 60 sophomores in Nation (2002)
-- Set Illinois State Record for assists in a season:1,204 in 2001
-- Set Illinois State Record for career assists with 3,528 from 2001-04
-- Placed fifth at Junior National Volleyball Tournament-Open Division...Named to All-Tournament Team (2003)
-- Placed first in Junior National Volleyball Tournament-National Division...Named Tournament MVP (2004)
-- Also an outstanding student athlete. She has been named to the Carl Sandburg Academic Honor Roll the past four years and also named to the National Honor Society.
Personal... Sarah is the daughter of Dan and Pat Kwasigroch...will major in Pharmacy...maintains a 4.8 grade point average.
Coach McKee on Kwasigroch: "Sarah is a pure setter and brings years of winning experience to the table. The great thing about Sarah is that she makes players better around her. Sarah will come in start and run our offense from day one. She sets a very high standard for herself in the classroom and on the court. Lobo Volleyball took a huge step forward when Sarah chose to wear Cherry & Silver."
JOELLE INGRAM 6-1 Middle Hitter Tucson, Ariz. (Canyon Del Oro High School)
Ingram is a very versatile athlete, winning the 2000 Arizona State Mountain Bike Championship as well as earning all-city honorable mention honors in 2004. Some of her accomplishments include:
-- Lettering in volleyball for three years
-- Awarded CDO's Most Improved Player in 2002
-- Named honorable mention All Region 2002-03
-- Named first-team all-region and first-team all-city in 2004
"Joelle brings us depth and a very physical presence to the middle position. As she learns our systems, we expect great things out of her while she is a Lobo."
-- Ingram is also an outstanding student-athlete, being named to the Canyon Del Oro Principals Honor Role during her high school career.
Personal... Joelle is the daughter of James and Judy Ingram...will major in Business ...maintains a 3.8 grade point average.
Coach McKee on Ingram: "Joelle brings us depth and a very physical presence to the middle position. She has the ability to play at a high level at the net and will compete for playing time in the middle. Joelle really likes to work out and will continue to grow physically every year. As she learns our systems we expect great things out her while she is a Lobo."
GAYLE TRIPP 5-2 Defensive Specialist/Libero Rio Rancho, N.M. (Rio Rancho High School)
Tripp has lettered for three years in volleyball while at Rio Rancho High. Some of her accomplishments include:
-- Named first-team all-district three years (2002, `03, `04)
-- First-team all-metro honors and all-state honors three years (2002, `03, `04)
-- Garnered Player of the Year honors as a sophomore by the Westside Albuquerque Journal.
-- Has led Rio Rancho High School to back-to-back New Mexico 5A State Championships and has her team back in the state tournament again this year
-- Outstanding student-athlete that has been named to the Rio Rancho Academic Honor Roll the past four years and also named to the National Honor Society.
-- Named to the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership program.
Personal... is the daughter of Gary & Jeannette Tripp... is undecided on her major at this time...maintains a 3.6 grade point average.
"Gayle will bring us instant leadership, ball control and the desire to touch the ball in the backcourt on defense. We look for great things during Gayle's career."
Coach McKee on Tripp: "Gayle will bring us instant leadership, ball control and the desire to touch every ball in the backcourt on defense. Don't let her size fool you -- she can play the game and will stabilize our passing and turn up the intensity in our gym. Gayle is a great get for UNM, she is a great talent that is right in our back yard. We look for great things during Gayle's career."
McKee's Final Thoughts on the fall signees: "We are really excited about this class. Each of these young women brings a high level of commitment to the success of Lobo Volleyball both on and off the court. UNM Volleyball will continue to grow competitively in the Mountain West Conference with the addition of Sarah, Joelle, and Gayle. The future is bright for Lobo Volleyball."
