New Mexico head coach Steve Alford
General thoughts on the game
"I have to give Colorado State credit. They had great energy throughout the game; they got a lot of loose balls. We shoot 36 percent on the road. I thought we defended and I thought getting 19 offensive rebounds (was good); that is what we have been doing all year."
On being concerned about hitting a flat spot with the last two games of the season coming up
"No, 12 straight wins. We just broke a league record. I think our energy has been great, I thought our energy was good against Air Force. This has been a tough stretch because normally we get Sunday off; we didn't get Sunday off because we had to travel. Now we take Wednesday off and now we are down to two games. I think BYU has four games left. We are in a good situation. We have to maximize rest here on Wednesday, but there is no way I can complain at all about how this team is doing. They continue to amaze me."
On how the team came up big down the stretch
"I think your vets have to do it. I think our freshmen did some good things; I think Jamal (Fenton) did some good things and I think Chad (Adams) did some good things. Will (Brown) did a great job for us when A.J. (Hardeman) was in foul trouble. In the second half I thought Phil's (McDonald) minutes were much more productive. What Dairese (Gary), Roman (Martinez) and Darington (Hobson) were able to do in the second half, the big three really came to the forefront late in the game."
On whether the team is NCAA tournament ready
"We have said nothing about the tournament. We have really been concentrating on this championship drive. We have a way to go to worry about that tournament. We have won 26 games so the tournament is not in question. What is in question is what our seed ends up being."
