LOS ANGELES, Calif-- The University of New Mexico Lobos fell to the 2nd-Ranked UCLA Bruins 3-0 this afternoon at the UCLA Women's Cup at Drake Stadium. The Lobos fall to 3-2-4 on the season, ending their seven match unbeaten streak. UCLA improves to 7-0-1 on the season.
The stands were filled with Cherry and Silver but the Blue and Gold dominated on the field. The Bruins got on the board early when Kara Lang picked up a cross from Lauren Cheney to put UCLA up 1-0. With five minutes left in the first half Liz Zadro put the Bruins up 2-0 off a a cross from Christina DiMartino.
Four minutes into the second half Kristina Larson crashed into the box and put away a cross from McCall Zerboni to put UCLA on top 3-0.
The Lobos were held to a season low two shots by the Bruins and were out shot 16-2. UCLA fired off 10 shots in the first half with 7 shots on goal that netted two goals. The Lobo offense was only able to get off two shots with one shot on goal in the first half. Freshmen Amanda Collins and Nicole Reed had the only two shots for the Lobos the entire match.
