New Mexico Head Coach Don Flanagan
We had a good first half and an average second half, but we'll take the win. I think we did a pretty good job on Hampton - bothering her with the double team. It's the first time we've done any kind of double-teaming in the low post and we did a good job half the time - 50 percent of the time - and I think we need to improve that.
We shot a very good percentage in the first half. I'm disappointed in the second half. Sometimes that happens - you get a big lead and pretty soon everybody sitting on the bench is saying, `When I get in I'm shooting my shot.' I think that's what happened, at least it looked like that. We lost a little focus in the second half. But, (UNLV) is a pretty athletic team and it's a win.
On whether or not he was surprised the game became so one-sided
"Probably - well, at least in the first half. We were shooting so well that it didn't surprise me by the way we were shooting. When you shoot that well - especially from the three - you're going to have an opportunity to be pretty successful or have a pretty good lead. In the second half, you know we just lost focus. That's too bad, but it was painful for me to watch."
On whether or not this year's team has surprised him with its success
I think the team has surprised me a little bit. What they do well is they come to practice hard every single day. They really have a desire to be successful. It's not some of them that have a desire to be successful. It's pretty much all of them."

On the game against UNLV
Like coach said we did play well in the first half and in the second half we were up with such a lead that we came out and didn't play like we should have. They're a very physical team. That's how UNLV plays, that's how they've been playing. They have a new coach, but their style of play hasn't changed. They were going after it in the second half and we didn't perform like we should have, but we'll be working on that tomorrow in practice."
On what needs to be improved
I think we really need to work a lot on offence. First half we played well: moving the ball, hitting each other (when) we were wide open. In the second half we were up by such a big lead that everyone was looking for their own shot. So I think we really need to work more on breaking down and hitting the open player at the right time and not just forcing up shots that aren't there.

On dominating a conference opponent
Yeah it did feel well. The first half we were meshing on offence. People were hitting their shots and it felt really good. We can only improve and hopefully get 40 minutes of that."
On 12-2 start
I'm not surprised. I mean we have great chemistry and I think that is helping us. I'm having fun, my teammates are having fun and we're excited that we are doing so well. We want to keep improving and I think our competitiveness is pushing us.
On the upcoming road trip
It will be big for us to get wins on the road since 2 of our 3 road games were losses. It will be really important that we get these wins on the road. It will be hard without our crowd, because they really help motivate and get us pumped.
