FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The New Mexico softball team (29-32, 3-14) dropped the first two games of a four-game series at Colorado State today. The Rams took game one 2-1 and game two 3-1.
Ogas held the shutout until the sixth inning but lost it as Kerry Farrell belted a double to left center scoring Ricki Walker and Brittany Burtner.
Ogas suffered the loss, throwing five innings for three hits, one earned run and seven strikeouts. Senior Amy Dumas tossed one inning allowing just one walk. Megan Masser earned the complete game win giving up five hits, one earned run, one walk and four strikeouts.
Scoring in game two got started in the bottom of the third as Walker homered to right knocking in Burtner.
Melanie Laffoon added an insurance run in the sixth with a double to right that scored Jessica Strickland.
Dumas suffered the loss, hurling a complete game for nine hits, three runs, one walk and one strikeout. Genevieve Kelly garnered the win behind her 4.2 inning effort. Kelly gave up six hits, one walk and one strikeout. Strickland threw 2.1 innings of relief for one run and two strikeouts.
The Lobos will play Colorado State in a make-up doubleheader tomorrow starting at 1 p.m. The twinbill was originally scheduled for April 3 in Albuquerque but was rained out.
