ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- New Mexico softball hosts New Mexico State Tuesday in the Route 66 Casino Hotel Rio Grande Rivalry. The Lobos and Aggies play at 6:30 p.m. at the newly renovated Lobo Field. The game will be available via gametracker and all-access video on www.GoLobos.com. New Mexico enters the game with a 20-18 overall record, while NMSU is 24-28 on the season.
New Mexico dropped four games last weekend against No. 22 San Diego State and UNLV. The Lobos are hitting .270 as a team and have three hitters batting over .300. Senior Lindsey Elcess leads the team with a .377 average and nine home runs. Freshman Gabriella Parra has a .330 batting average and sophomore Sara Loeffelholz is hitting .315. Senior Kelly Ninemire is the ace of the pitching staff and is 13-12 overall with a 3.83 ERA.
The Aggies have won four straight with their last loss coming against New Mexico, 7-6, on April 8. Stephanie Herrera and Kylie Randall lead NMSU offensively. Herrera is hitting .390 and Randall has a .372 batting average. Kim Watson is 16-14 in the circle with a 2.58 ERA.
UNM leads the all-time series with NMSU, 84-47-0. The Lobos defeated the Aggies in Las Cruces, 7-6, earlier this season. Tuesday's game will be the final non-conference game for New Mexico.
