BOZEMAN, MONT.--The last time the Lobos played the University of Montana it ended with a close win of 4-3. The Lobos finished today with a more decisive victory over them with a score of 5-2.
In both of the doubles, the Lobos were up 6-3 only to see that lead shrink to 6-5. They held on in very long games and won 8-5.
The Lobos took the lead in the dual match winning doubles 1-0. It is now onto singles.
In the number one position, Michaela Bezdickova defeated Heather Davidson with a score of 6-4, 6-4. She clinched the team win breaking Davidson's serve at 5-4 in both of the sets.
Susanna Kuuttila. despite being a freshman, played at the number two spot holding her own against Sasha Carter winning the match 6-4, 6-4.
Kristin Eggleston played number three singles against Ashley Mackey in a close three set match. Kristin Eggleston came back from being down 3-5 in the first set to win it 7-5, but it did not last losing the next two sets 6-3, 6-3. The final match score was a Montana victory 5-7, 6-3, 6-3.
In the number four position, Maria Sablina faced off against Precious Gbadamosi defeating her 6-4, 6-4.
Nikolina Grbac played the number five spot against Maddy Murray winning the match with a score of 6-2, 6-1.
In number six singles, Michaela Oldani made it a close one in the second set against Lauren Gibson but could not quite close the deal dropping the match 6-3, 7-5.
In the number one, two and four singles, the Lobos were up 5-2 in both sets and closed it out 6-4.
"We made a few adjustments in our warm-up and doubles line-up which paid off. We played solid all-around," Head Coach Roy Canada said. "When we did not capitalize on some early leads, we still held on to our composure and finished it off well. This was a very solid on the road win against an up and coming team which had some very good results in the fall."
The Lobos will play once more in Bozeman, Mont. facing Montana State at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
