DENTON, Texas---The University of New Mexico women's soccer team battled North Texas to 1-1 draw in double overtime this afternoon at the North Texas Soccer Field. Senior Rachel Fields led the Lobos as she scored her fourth goal of the season and eighth of her career.

Fields knocked in a cross from junior Jennifer Williams in the 7th minute of the game to give New Mexico a 1-0 lead. The Mean Green then responded with a goal from Mandy Hall to tied the game at 1-1 at the 15th minute mark of the first half.

New Mexico outshot North Texas 15 to 6 but were unable to score another goal throughout the remainder of the game.

"We played with heart and soul," head coach Kit Vela said. "It was the most physical, ugly games we have played in years. It was not the best soccer we've played but we had some good moments."

The Lobos, who are receiving votes in the most recent NSCAA/HendrickCars.com National Rankings and Soccer Times Coaches Poll, are now 4-0-2 on the season. The squad will travel to Texas again next weekend to take on Baylor at 6 p.m. on Sept. 10 and SMU at 1 p.m. on Sept. 12.
