ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- Former New Mexico Lobo Dionne Marsh has signed a one-year contract to compete in the A1 Women's League in Athens. Marsh inked the deal that starts in September and extends through April of 2009. The UNM all-time scoring leader will join the former squad of Lobo great Jordan Adams.
"I'm very excited about this opportunity and look forward to continuing my basketball career," said Marsh. "I would not be given this opportunity without Jordan Adams and I'm very thankful. I hear Athens is a great place and I look forward to the experience."
Adams played for the same team during her professional career overseas and recommended Marsh for the Athens club. The opportunity gives Marsh the chance to compete on a professional level. Following her UNM career, Marsh was signed a training camp contract with the Sacramento Monarchs of the WNBA.
Marsh plans on returning in the fall of 2009 to complete her degree at UNM.
