Game Story, Box Score, Quotes, Live Stats

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Lobos’ record is 13-10 after going undefeated at home with two 3-0 sweeps over Boise State and Air Force last week. The two conference victories were huge for the Lobos as it bumped them up to fifth place in the Mountain West, bringing them within one win of fourth-place San Diego State. UNM can put itself in a nice position in conference with wins against SDSU and UNLV this weekend.

About San Diego State (13-8, 6-4 MW) ... The Aztecs are coming off two-straight confer- ence losses to Colorado State and Wyoming. SDSU is now 13-8 overall and 6-4 in the MW. The Aztecs currently sit just in front of UNM in fourth-place in the conference. SDSU defeated the Lobos, 3-2, earlier this season in Albuquerque.

About UNLV (11-13, 3-7 MW) ... The Rebels are also coming off two-straight conferences losses to CSU and Wyoming. The losses drop UNLV to 11-13 overall and 3-7 in the MW. UNLV was swept, 3-0, by the Lobos in Albuquerque in the two teams first match this season.

  • Ashley Rhoades set a new career high in both kills (31) and points (36) in UNM’s 3-1 conference victory over Boise State on Oct. 1. The native New Mexican leads UNM with 332 kills on the season. It is the first time Rhoades has recorded over 300 kills in any season during her career.
  • Senior libero Allison Buck has moved into the top three on the UNM all-time digs list, having recorded 422 digs thus far in her final season as a Lobo. She has 1,491 digs overall. Buck set a new career high in digs with 36 in UNM’s victory over Delaware on Sept. 17.
  • Rhoades and Buck have each been named to four different all-tournament teams this season. The MCM Elegante Classic, the Comcast/Sheraton Lobo Invitational, the Fiesta Bowl Classic and the Pitt Blue and Gold Classic.

Against San Diego State (18-29) ... The Lobos are 18-29 all-time against SDSU. SDSU beat the Lo- bos early this season, 3-2. UNM is 7-3 against the Aztecs over the two team’s last 10 matches.

Against UNLV (12-16) ... The Lobos are 12-16 all-time against UNLV. The Lobos beat UNLV early this season, 3-0. The last time the Lobos lost to UNLV in Las Vegas was Nov. 9, 2007.

Rhoades Closing in on Milestones ... Senior Ashley Rhoades recently moved up to No. 6 all-time on UNM’s career total blocks list. The senior has 314 blocks for her career and is just six blocks behind No. 5 all-time Laurel Luman. Rhoades is tied for No. 4 all time with Luman in block assists at UNM with 252. She also surpassed the 800 kill plateau for her career. The Rio Rancho , N.M., native currently has 826 kills for her career after having recorded 326 kills so far this season. It is the first time in Rhoades’ career she has recorded over 300 kills in a season. Rhoades also topped the 1,000 points plateau in her career this season.

Williamson Closing in on Career Mark ... Kelly Williamson currently sits just five kills away from recording the most kills she ever has in a single season. With 291 kills thus far, Williamson should be a lock to break her current single-season high of 296 kills set last season.

Buck Looking for Single Season Record ... Allison Buck is looking to break the Lobos’ all-time single-season record in digs, as well as break her own personal record. Currently, Buck sits at 422 digs for the season. Her personal season best is 455 digs, which ranks No. 2 all time on the Lobos’ single-season records list. Sharon Browning holds the all-time single-season record with 499 digs, Browning’s record has stood since 1992. With four regular season matches left, as well as conference tournament games, one could reason that Buck has a legitimate shot to break the all-time UNM record, with 78 digs to go.

Lobos in the Mountain West ... The Lobos currently rank second in overall digs (16.24) and are third in opponent hitting percentage (.164) in the MW. In MW matches alone, the Lobos are second in digs per set (16.53).

Killin’ It ... Ashley Rhoades is currently second in the MW rankings for kills per set and points per set. She is averaging 3.85 KPS and 4.53 PPS overall. She set a career single-match high for kills with 31 against Boise State on Oct. 1.

Digging for Gold ... Allison Buck set a new career-high in digs with 36 in UNM’s win over Delaware Sept. 17 at the Pitt Blue and Gold Classic. The senior currently leads the MW in digs per set during MW matches with 4.88.

Double-Double Animal Style ... Senior Kelly Williamson and sophomore Mariah Agre lead the Lobos this year in double doubles recorded. Agre is tops on the team with 11, while Williamson has six. The Lobos are 6-7 on the season when a player records a double double.

Homegrown Lobos ... Almost half of the 15 players on the UNM roster are local New Mexicans. Seven current Lobos played at high schools in the state of New Mexico. Ashley Rhoades, Chelsea McCampbell and Jayla Trombley all played at Rio Rancho HS, Chan- tale Riddle (Roswell HS), Jordan Russell (Moriarty HS), Ashley Newman (St. Pius X) and Miquella Lovato (Pojoaque HS).
