WAHIAWA, HAWAI'I - The University of New Mexico men's golf team could not hold on to its two day lead and finished in third place at the 22-team John Burns Intercollegiate. The Lobos shot a final round 285 and tournament total 27-under par 840 (276-279-285) to finish seven strokes behind Arizona (285-272-276=833).
Individually for the Lobos, transfer Spencer Levin won medalist honors with a 15-under par 201 (67-65-69) on the par 72, 6917 yard Leilehua Golf Course. Levin led the tournament wire to wire and finished one stroke in front of Nolan Martin of Colorado State.
Other individual results for New Mexico were Jay Choi tied for 13th at 6-under par (68-70-72=210), tied for 33rd and playing as an individual was Charlie Beljan at 3-under (69-71-73-213), Jay Reynolds tied for 41st at 1-under (68-78-69=215), Ian Medlock tied for 65th at 4-over (73-72-75=220) and Tyler Symons was 8-over (73-72-79=224) to finish tied for 82nd.
New Mexico returns to the golf course on March 11-13, at the Las Vegas Founders Intercollegiate in Las Vegas, Nevada.
