ALBUQUERUQUE, N.M. --- University of New Mexico students will have one more opportunity to pick up basketball tickets for the final men's home games vs. San Diego State (Feb. 21), TCU (Feb. 24) and Utah (March 3) and the women's BYU game on Feb. 17. Student Ticket Distribution will take place at the UNM Student Union Building on Monday, Feb. 16, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Students can earn Howl Raiser points and win cool, fun giveaways during the ticket distribution. Giveaways include Angel Fire Ski Resort Single Day Lift Passes; XBOX 360 and Playstation games; free food from Outback Steakhouse, Sweet Tomatoes, Del Taco and Santa Ana Star Casino Buffet; Lobo t-shirts; and Wells Fargo gift cards. Students must be present to win the giveaways.
The UNM student population has played a major role in pumping up recent crowds at The Pit, giving the Lobos a noticeable, and sometimes deafening, home court advantage. Student attendance, led by the popular Section 26 and the Howl Raisers, has steadily increased over the past five Lobo men's games from 786 vs. Air Force on Jan. 10 to 1,603 vs. UNLV on Feb. 7.
The Lobo men's team is currently 16-9 overall and tied for second in the MWC at 7-3. The Lobo women, hosts of the NCAA First and Second Rounds in March, are 17-6 overall and in fifth place in the MWC at 6-4.
Both teams will be hosting "Pink Zone" games in the coming weeks and encourage all fans to wear pink, especially pink Lobo gear, in support of breast cancer awareness. The women host BYU for "Pink Zone" night on Feb. 17, followed by the men's "Pink Zone" night on Feb. 24 vs. TCU.
