Postgame Head Coach Quotes

Opening comments on the game
"For a game like this what we are trying to do is play well and execute our offense. We want to try to get lots of people to play. It was apparent early on that they didn't have the inside players to play against us. They (Norfolk State) played hard for a half. I thought we didn't play particularly well the first half. We turned it over way too many times and we discussed that at half. We had a little half time motivation so that they wouldn't turn it over. I thought we did a better job the second half of breaking down their defense. They had a real hard time with a little ball screen drive and Amy (Beggin) had a field day with it. I thought our young players played well. Christian Shelter had a nice game and hit quite a few shots there. Defensively, I thought Porche played really well. Jessica Kielpinski did a nice job getting in. We didn't have to play Amy (Beggin) as much as normal. Overall it was a game where we could play a lot of people and have an easy victory and hopefully we will be fresh for tomorrow."
Comments on Christian Shelter's contributions off the bench
"One of the things about Christian (Shelter), she has one of the nicest shots I have ever seen. I keep telling her that and she just doesn't know when to shoot it. Tonight she hit that three in transition and in beautiful form. It was a very balance shot and her problem is she tends to get off balance. Tonight she took her time. Now she doesn't get a lot of minutes and that is one of the reasons that I think she doesn't get that opportunity to shoot that shot. It takes her about five minutes in the game to really get her to relax. She's got to improve on defense, buit I am real happy she had some success."
Comments on the struggling first half
"We were in the press for a little bit just to see if we could unsettle them. That didn't seem to work, so we did a little zone, we did a little man. We did a lot of different things and I was trying a lot of different people in the line up. I thought we played a little bit sloppy, with 12 turnovers. We need to execute better on offense. Defensively I thought as the game progressed we got better and better."

Comments on the game and playing in The Pit
"Very exciting. This is my first time here, as well as all of our ladies, and traveling party. It's a very exciting environment to play in, and we were playing a very talented team. We were fortunate to be here. I thought we played a pretty nice first half and we ran out of gas in the second half, and our numbers are low. They exploded in the second, rightfully so, but a lot of talent was displayed tonight, and we were jut happy to be here."
