ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Amy Beggin scored a career-high of 26 points to lead the Lobos to their first conference home win of the season against UNLV Saturday night at The Pit, 94-64. Dionne Marsh and Brandi Kimble both helped with 22 points each. New Mexico improve to 11-9 overall and 3-4 in the Mountain West Conference.
Brandi Kimble started the game off with a three-pointer. From there she scored the next six points. Kimble shot eight of 11 from the floor and was three of four from behind the arc. Kimble finished the night tying her career-high.
Early in the first half the Lobos went on a 15-0 run, building a 22-point lead over the Lady Rebels. The biggest Lobo lead of the game came with 2:40 left in the second half, 93-55. The Lobos' 94 points was the highest scoring game of the season.
With her 22 points, Marsh moves into third place all-time on the Lobo all-time scoring list with 1,689 points.
Sophomore Georonika Jackson recorded a career-high with eight points.
High scorer for the Lady Rebels was Dominique Harris with 24 points. Sequoia Holmes pitched in with 18 points.
New Mexico shot 55.9% from the floor and 53.3% from behind the arc, including 66.7% in the second half, which was the highest percentage of any half this season.
The Lobos are back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at Colorado State. Game time at Moby Arena is set for 7 p.m. with Joe Behrend calling the action on 610 AM The Sports Animal.
