College of Santa Fe's Bremond Claims Singles Crown At Balloon Fiesta

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The College of Santa Fe's Gerald Bremond, seeded No. 1 in the Balloon Fiesta, won the main flight singles title today at the UNM Tennis Complex. Bremond beat New Mexico State's Danilo Zivanovic 6-2, 6-4. The doubles champion is to be announced at a later date. The match will be decided by Denver at home. The tandems are Nejc Smole and Viktor Zetterholm versus Hans Peter Gaber and Niki Popovic.

Playing for the Lobos on Sunday were sophomores Henry Gers and Anders Hanisch as well as freshman Robert Grzeskowiak.

Gers opened the day with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Northern Arizona's Lew Deleon in the main flight consolation semifinals. In the finals, Gers won the first set 6-3 but couldn't hold on, falling to New Mexico State's Christian Halligan 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.

Grzeskowiak fell is the "B" flight consolation semifinals, 6-2, 6-2, to Colin Day of Denver. Hanisch, playing in the "B" flight third consolation finals, netted a 6-2, 6-2 win over Spencer Peoples.
