ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- The University of New Mexico volleyball team took second place in the 2009 Comcast Lobo Challenge with a 3-1 (25-19, 22-25, 25-11, 26-24) win over Pittsburgh. Baylor (11-0) won the tournament with a 3-0 win over Cal State Fullerton. Lobo team captains Jade Michaelsen and Rose Morris were named to the all-tournament team, the third all-tournament team for Michaelsen this season.
The Lobos (7-1) out-hit Pitt (5-6) .172 to .026 in the first set to win 25-19, but the roles reversed in the second set as the Panthers out-hit UNM .303 to .147 to even the match at 1-1 with a 25-22 win.
Out of the intermission, New Mexico found its stride, 25-11, with only one hitting error in the set to go up 2-1. Morris held serve for UNM for a 6-0 run and a 13-5 lead during the set.

At 22-22, the match had a short injury delay as Morris left the match with a finger injury. Missing the senior team captain, the Lobos buckled down and rallied behind three kills by Taylor Hadfield and a Pitt attack error to win 26-24.
Hadfield had a career-high 16 kills along with five blocks to lead UNM, while Morris and Meeter pitched in with 11 kills each. Jade Michaelsen had 39 assists and Allison Buck had 15 digs for the Lobos.
