ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The New Mexico women's golf team is ranked third in the latest Golf Week/Sagarin rankings released earlier this week. The ranking is the highest of the season for the Lobos.
UNM has been ranked in the top 10 for 21 consecutive weeks, dating back to Sept. 29, when the Lobos entered the top 10 at No. 4 after winning the Dick McGuire Invitational. New Mexico has claimed three tournament titles this season (Dick McGuire Invitational; Landfall Tradition; Las Vegas Founders Women's Collegiate Showdown).
New Mexico has moved up to No. 3 since its last showing, a second place finish at the highly ranked Northrup Grumman Challenge. Twelve of the 15 teams at the tournament were ranked in the Top 25, including seven in the top 10. UNM's second-place showing bested five top-10 teams, including Arizona, California, Georgia, Oklahoma State and Florida.
The Lobos return to action March 16-17 at the Hawai'i Invitational in Oahu.
