Lobos In Sixth After Day One at MWC Championships

OKLAHOMA CITY, O.K. --- The University of New Mexico ended the first day of completion sixth at the Mountain West Conference swimming and diving championships in Oklahoma City. The Lobos have 61 points, behind BYU (111), Wyoming (102), Colorado State (87), Utah (78), and UNLV (74). TCU, San Diego State and Air Force are behind the Lobos.

Senior diver Carrie Quinn finished sixth on the 1-meter dive with a mark of 250.90.

In the 200-yard medley relay sophomores Lisa Toelle, Ashley Grisdale, and juniors Katrina McLoughlin and Carly Hilo took eighth with a final time of 1:47.05.

The final event of day one was the 800-yard freestyle relay where Jennifer Patterson, Theresa Rogers, Andrea Zarins and Tori Clarridge finished sixth (7:33.35).

Day two finals begin Thursday at 5 p.m. The scheduled events are the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard individual medley, 50-yard freestyle, the 1-meter dive, and the 200-yard freestyle relay.
