Tom Horton Joins Lobo Softball Staff

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - New Mexico softball head coach Kim Newbern has announced the hiring of Tom Horton as the new assistant coach for the Lobo program. Horton, a Elkhart, Kan. native, comes to the Lobos from Wichita State University, where he was a graduate assistant for the 2003-04 season. Horton also was a student assistant for the Kansas softball team from 2000-2003 while earning his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and Health. "We are excited to have Tom join our staff," Newbern said. "He brings a ton of energy, knowledge and commitment. We are looking forward to him working with our pitchers and taking them to the next level." The New Mexico softball team begins the 2004-05 season Feb. 4 at the Univ. of California-Santa Barbara Tournament. You can get a glimpse of the Lobos Oct. 9 at 12 p.m. when they host El Paso Community College.
