ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - New Mexico softball head coach Kim Newbern has announced the hiring of Tom Horton as the new assistant coach for the Lobo program. Horton, a Elkhart, Kan. native, comes to the Lobos from Wichita State University, where he was a graduate assistant for the 2003-04 season. Horton also was a student assistant for the Kansas softball team from 2000-2003 while earning his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and Health. "We are excited to have Tom join our staff," Newbern said. "He brings a ton of energy, knowledge and commitment. We are looking forward to him working with our pitchers and taking them to the next level."
