Head Coach Don Flanagan
On the game:
"We shot poorly, played hard, and got a lot of 'O' boards giving us more opportunities than they had. We shot well from the free throw line especially in the second half. We missed so many shots that we've been hitting in practice. It's hard to run an offense when you are depending on the three-point shooting and all of a sudden when it's game time we can't knock that shot down. With that said, I think we'll come around."
"They were on their fourth game and you could tell that. They were running offensive sets and the press. We haven't even worked against the press. They (Division II) can start earlier than we can and that is a big advantage for them."
On the play of the Seawolves:
"They played very hard and that was a great opportunity for us to play somebody like many of the teams that we will face this season. It was a very physical game, very competitive, but it wasn't pretty."
Junior Amy Beggin:
On the final minutes of the game:
"I wanted the ball at the end and our posts were doing a good job of setting screens. I was just trying to keep it, trying to get the win. We did a good job of finishing the game off today."
On 25 percent shooting:
"We were getting a lot of good looks. I know a lot of times when it left my hand it felt really good and they were just short. So we are getting good looks it is just a matter of hitting them. We just need to get more comfortable with these game situations, but we are getting a lot of good shots and I think we will start to knock them down."
"Seven turnovers are really good for us. Their point guards were putting a lot of pressure on us. I think it just kind of shows what our offense is like too, getting a lot of early shots. Getting those is going to mean not as many turnovers. "
"They are a really good team that can beat a lot of Division I teams obviously. It is really good to play against competition like this because our conference schedule is so tough and our conference is so tough, so this is a really good game for us especially for the new players, kind of preparing them for what it is going to be like."
Senior Angela Hartill:
On guarding Jessica Kielpinski's sister (Rebecca) throughout the game: "They are very similar. They are both very physical and have really good post moves. Playing against Jessica kind of helped a lot. I want to do to her what I do to Jess so it just worked out that way."
On the shooting performance:
"I think we are just rushing our shots. Like Amy said, there were times where I know my shots felt good, but I know a couple of times where I rushed it before I had my feet set. It is all about finishing the little short shots close to the basket and just making sure we have good balance before we take our shots. We were able to calm down, come together as a team and finish the game strong."
