New Mexico head coach Steve Alford

On the game:
"It's just been an incredible journey that these young men have taken all of us on and coaches are fortunate enough that we get to be a part of that journey. I've always said that coaches get just a little too much credit when things are good and probably too much heat when it's bad. I know that from experience because I was a player first and I think coaches' jobs are to organize, provide discipline and to put people in situations and spots where they can be successful. Then it's up to the players to go make the most of those opportunities and to be successful. That's what these kids have taken us on through 31 games. They've taken us on a journey that's not going to sink in for awhile."

On what was more important, the conference championship or Roman Martinez senior night:
"I think Ro would want the team to come to the front, because that's who Ro is. I'd say Ro, but I know who Ro is and he is all about the team first. What we have done as a team definitely goes to the front of the line because Ro knows that we have said from year one that no player or coach isn't as important as the entire puzzle. There is no one piece that is bigger than the entire puzzle. With that said Ro is as good as it gets. Our guys wanted to play so well for Ro and so well for these fans. We've talked about it, the party in The Pit, celebrate with these fans."

TCU Head Coach Jim Christian

On trying to beat the Lobos:
"We came out here with eight guys, playing the number eight team in the nation. This was a game of effort and togetherness. There were a couple loose balls and a couple shots that we usually knock in and if we had knocked them in this may have been a different game. There are no moral victories. This is basketball. It's March basketball. We're trying to get wins just like anybody else. They knew we weren't going to come in here and roll over. They knew we were going to come in and play hard and we did. To beat the number eight team in the nation you're going to have to make shots. We had some good ones that we didn't knock in. Then you're going to have to out-hustle them and they did a great job. They made all those plays, I thought more than we made, so they got some extra possessions and that's how they beat us."

On playing in the Pit:
"This is a historic place. We knew coming in here that there was a lot on the line, a great senior graduating and playing for sole possession of first place (in the Mountain West Conference). You knew it'd be rocking so it was nothing more or less than I would've expected. It's one of the top environments in college basketball and those guys are where they are for a reason."
