ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- Former Lobo All-American Jeanne Fairchild will be continuing her professional volleyball career with Club Split 1700 in Croatia for the 2010 season. Fairchild, a University of New Mexico volleyball player from 2006-08, graduated on Dec. 18, 2009 from the University of New Mexico with her bachelor's degree in Communications and Journalism.
"This will be a different type of league since we will be playing teams from around Europe, not just in one country," said Fairchild. "This will give all of us more exposure professionally. This will be a great opportunity to visit another country and learn about another culture."
An Albuquerque native, Fairchild will be playing for her second professional team in two seasons. After finishing her Lobo career in 2008, Fairchild took a semester off from school to pursue a professional playing career in Puerto Rico in 2009. She returned to Albuquerque after the Puerto Rican League season to finish her degree.
Club Split 1700 finished third in its league in 2009.
