LAS CRUCES, N.M. --- Day two of the NMSU Fall Invitational leaves two Lobos in the finals of the main draw. They are the dynamic duo of McDaniels/ Hegelund along with singles player Samir Iftikhar. The team will all be playing more matches in tomorrow's final round of the tournament.

Mitch McDaniels teamed with Mads Hegelund finished the semi-final round with a close score defeating Western New Mexico's Romero/Nunez 8-6.

James Hignett paired with Samir Iftikhar also claimed victory defeating Abilene Christian's Plum/McCarty in an intense final tiebreak finishing 9-8.

In singles, Samir Iftikhar played two matches today. His first he played Western New Mexico's Rodrigo Almeida winning 3-1 ret. In the semi-finals, he won in three sets against New Mexico State's Matej Stakne with an outstanding score of 6-7, 6-4, 6-1.

Mads Hegelund was not able to claim glory losing in a devastating three set match against Abilene Christian's Hans Hoch with a score of 7-6, 6-7, 6-2.

Mitch McDaniels was triumphant when facing Western New Mexico's Justin Romero with a tremendous score of 6-0, 6-7, 6-4. However he was not able to continue this path when he lost in three sets to New Mexico State's Mark Westgate with a close score of 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.

James Hignett became a champion when he won in a second set tie break against New Mexico State's Paul Denele with a score of 6-4, 7-6. He was not able to finish strong and lost to New Mexico State's Luis Ramirez with a score of 7-6, 6-2.

Play will conclude on Sunday with the championship matches beginning at 9 a.m.
