Lobos to Compete in Finals for Both Singles and Doubles

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.--- The Balloon Fiesta Classic continued Saturday at the Linda Estes tennis complex in Albuquerque, N.M. In Saturday's round of quarterfinal and semi-final matches, two Lobos stood out.

UNM junior Phil Anderson, seeded No.3, took on Air Force Academy's Lucas Marin-Salcedo in his quarterfinal match. Although Marin-Salcedo won the first set, 5-7, Anderson pulled though taking the next two sets, 6-3, 6-1. Once in the semi-finals he swiftly defeated No.4 Hugo Ramadier from Northern Arizona, 6-3, 6-4. Anderson will battle No. 2 seed Orland Superlano of New Mexico State in the final championship match on Sunday.

Anderson also brought his A-game to the doubles court where he and Lobo Jadon Phillips defeated Western New Mexico duo Almeida/Damasio in the quarterfinals, 8-6. In the semi-finals they faced Frattini/Superlano from New Mexico State, taking the match, 8-3. The Lobo duo will compete against NAU's Lantz/Bermudez Sunday morning in the championship match.

Both of the championship matches will be played Sunday, Oct. 10. Doubles are set for 9:00 a.m. and singles are set for 10:30 a.m.
