New Mexico Tied for Second After Round One of Topy Cup

FUKUSHIMA, JAPAN - The University of New Mexico men's golf team opened their 2004-05 season today at the first round of the Topy Cup in Fukushima, Japan. The Lobos shot a 285 on the par-72, 7,086-yard Tanagura Country Club, today. UNM is currently tied for second with Auburn and trail Texas by one stroke. The Lobos were led today by junior Spencer Levin, who sits at the top of the leaderboard after a first round 4-under par 68. Levin has a one stroke lead over five individuals. Senior Miguel Griego is also in the top-10 tied for ninth with a 1-under par 71. Other UNM results are sophomore Charlie Beljan is tied for 12th with an even par 72, senior Jay Reynolds is tied for 21st with a 74 and junior Mark Anderson is tied for 52nd with a 79. The Topy Cup continues tomorrow with the second round of play. Results will be posted on the New Mexico website following each round.
