ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The University of New Mexico women's basketball team closes the exhibition portion of their schedule on Sunday afternoon against the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. The Lobos won its opening exhibition game 82-43 over Vanguard, while UCCS will play its first exhibition game on Friday night against Colorado. Tip-off is schedule for 2:00 p.m. and can be heard on 610 AM or seen live on golobos.com.
TONIGHT'S GAME: Tonight's game features the Lobos of the University of New Mexico against the Mountain Lions of the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs in an exhibition game.
SCOUTING THE LOBOS: The Lobos are coming off a 22-10 season in 2005-06 and return seven letterwinners, including three starters. UNM returns junior Dionne Marsh who led the team in scoring at 15.9 ppg. last season and senior Katie Montgomery who was second in the country in 3-point field goal percentage last year.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAIN LIONS: Colorado-Colorado Springs is an NCAA Division II university. The Mountain Lions were 12-16 last season and finished third in the West Division of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. UCCS returns only three players from last season but have also brought in three Division I transfers. The top returning scorer for the Mountain Lions is senior guard Dolly Fiedelman at 5.9 ppg.
THE COACHES: UNM is led by head coach Don Flanagan who enters his 12th season at New Mexico. Flanagan is 239-104 at UNM. The Mountain Lions are led by Jessika Straton who enters her second season at Colorado-Colorado Springs and is 12-15.
