PROVO, UTAH --- The University of New Mexico men's tennis team extended its win streak to 10 matches by beating UNLV 4-0 on Thursday. The match was scheduled for 10 a.m. but due to bad weather, the match was moved indoors and did not get started until the evening. The 2008 Lobos become the fourth squad to get to 17 (17-6) wins in a season under 12th year head coach Alan Dils (2001, '02, '04) while improving to 4-0 in MWC play.
The doubles ended with the Lobos ahead 1-0 when they won at No. 1 and 3. At No. 1, Max Jones and Kamil Pajkowski improved their mark to 23-6 by defeating Elliot Wronski and Wesley Burrows 8-2. The No. 3 doubles saw Graeme Kassautzki and Joe Wood beat Matthew Kunkel and Bryan Miller 8-3.
The Lobos only needed three wins on the singles courts to collect the dual and they got them in order. Jones took on Wronski at No. 1 with the senior Lobo winning 6-3, 6-1. Johnny Parkes improved to 18-10 with a 6-2, 6-1 win against Burrows. Miles Bugby won his fifth straight match for an 18-13 mark by defeating David Campbell 6-1, 7-5 at No. 4.
