New Mexico Head Coach Don Flanagan
"We shot well. That's good news. Didn't defend particularly well, we gave them too many opportunities, turned the ball over too many times. We should not get beat in turnovers and offensive rebounds. We got beat in both those areas. Those are areas of concern and we will have to work on it. Seems like teams that are smaller and quicker give us some problems so we have to make some adjustments. Their driving the middle seemed to bother us a little bit. They have a hand off and then they have a ball screen. I thought we could have contended with that a little bit better. Overall our shooting was good. This was a tough game for these guys. They have had like two or three exams...both teams looked a little sluggish. Disappointing on offensive rebounds, we did a really good job in transition defense...defended pretty well."
On Lobos play:
"Basketball is a game of runs, all teams go through that. Not too many teams stay hot the whole game. When you look overall we shot 52 percent from the three, you have to be pleased with that. If we had some lulls in there, we still shot a high percentage from the three, we shot a high percentage from the two, shot over 50 percent. If you do those things you are going to win a lot of games."
On 10-1 start:
"Our team has come out determined every single game that we have played. We've just been working hard during practice, so it's just been paying off for us. I'm not surprised."
On key performances coming from different players each
"We push each other in practice. We know that if one person is not hitting someone else has to step up. I think everybody on this team has that mentality. On any given night it could be anybody."
"I think our offence got a little bit too stagnant today. They were switching off screens and it was kind of giving us some problems. I'm glad we came out and were able to hit some shots; it helped us a lot. We're just happy to get a win today. We'll take any win we can get."
On playing during finals:
"It's tough because we come practice yesterday and we just have to study for all those tests and everything, but we're not the only school that has to do it. Everybody has to do it. So I mean it's just a matter of getting your priorities straight. When it's school time you really have to focus on school and when it's time to practice you just got to focus on practice. Almost all of us are almost done, so we'll be real happy soon and we can just focus on basketball."
