SENIOR QUARTERBACK Casey Kelly
Question: Is there a sense of urgency surrounding this game?
Casey Kelly: "Well I think it's a must win game for us this week. Colorado State is in the same situation we are. Both teams are going to be giving it their all, so it's going to be a tough game."
Q: Do you think the unexpected losses for both you and Colorado State will affect how this game is looked upon and played?
CK: "I think it will be a tough game no matter what. Colorado State is always well prepared. They have a great coaching staff to get them ready. We always come ready to play. I think it would be a tough game no matter what our records were. At this point of the season, so much is on the line that it's going to be a really competitive game."
Q: Coach Long was saying how excited you are to get back on the field. Is there some eagerness to really put the UNLV loss behind you?
CK: "Yeah, I think so. It's a short week with the Friday game and to be able to get that bad taste out of our mouth from last week is something we are definitely looking forward to. It's going to take a tough, relatively mistake free game from us. We're going to have to come out and put one of our best games together in order to beat Colorado State."
Q: What concerns you the most about Colorado State?
CK: "I think they are a well coach team. They seem to be a team that will bend but never break. They make you drive the distance offensively. Offensively they have been putting up a lot of points, so they are going to be a tough team to beat."
Q: You guys have been putting up a lot of points too, lately. It seems like you and Dwight Counter have been really in sync. Do you feel like you are in the flow?
CK: "I think we're getting there, but we're not quite there yet. I think Dwight is a great receiver and if we can put it all together I think we can be really dangerous. There have been times when I have been off a little or he has been off a little, but I think if we can work that out then we'll really be in the flow of things."
Q: How important is it for you guys to see the fans here on Friday?
CK: "It's really important for us to have our fans out here. This game is going to be on TV and a lot of times when games are on TV fans will stay home and watch it. I know it's probably going to be cold out here and maybe windy, but we really just need the fan support. There's nothing like 45,000 fans standing up, being loud and making it hard on the opposing team. We always like to have our fans out there because we feel like they give us an advantage."
