ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- The New Mexico volleyball team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 3-0 win over Grambling State in the second round of the MCM Elegante Lobo Classic. The Lobos made quick work of GSU, 30-19, 30-16, 30-18.

New Mexico head coach Jeff Nelson was able to get a lot of the players into the mix against the Lady Tigers.

"It was a great opportunity to get all the freshmen in and somje of the new players," said Nelson. "It got them some experience on the court, and hopefully got them over any jitters that they may still have."

Sophomore Allie Suiter and freshmen Melissa Middleton and Taylor Hadfield led the Lobos with seven kills each as the scoring was spread out over the squad. Suiter also had five service aces and five block assists on the afternoon.

New Mexico will face San Jose State in the tournament championship match at 7:30 p.m. in the Johnson Center. Grambling State and Florida Atlantic will play for third place at 5 p.m.
