Keith Gerrard Claims Top-10 Finish at NCAA Championships

    DES MOINES, Iowa---The quest for national titles resumed Friday at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships after severe weather forced competition to be suspended Thursday afternoon on the Drake campus.

    Keith Gerrard presented a solid performance in the 10,000-meter run, finishing in seventh nationally with a final time of 28:36.33.

    In the decathlon, sophomore Richard York tallied 7,229 to finish in 22nd-place.

    Freshman Django Lovett also placed in 22nd for the Lobos as he reached a height of 6-8.75 (2.05 meters) in the high jump.

    Four UNM athletes will be competing on Saturday in the final day of the National Championships. Deanna Young will be vying for All-American honors in the triple jump for the second consecutive year. Three Lobos, Ross Millington, Nicholas Kipruto and Rory Fraser will be racing in the 5,000-meter run.
