UNM won both games over the weekend and matched its best start since the 2004 season.

"We played okay in the first half but made adjustments at halftime," said UNM head coach Kit Vela. "We came out strong in the second period and played with confidence. We made better decisions and had a desire to win. We were able to stay focused and make plays."

Sweat broke the tie with her third goal of the season in the 62nd minute on an assist from Kelly. Senior Bridgette Sanchez drilled a corner kick to Kelly, who found Sweat for the goal. Sweat managed to slip the ball past the goalkeeper on a shot from five yards out to the left post.

UNM continue to apply pressure offensively and took advantage of another corner kick. Sanchez sent the corner kick to junior Terryn Granados, who crossed the ball to sophomore Asha Richardson for the goal in the 74th minute. The goal was Richardson's first of the season and extended the UNM lead to 2-0.

The final goal for the Lobos came in 84th minute. Sophomore Krista Peterson took the corner kick and Nobriga headed the ball past the defense and into the net. The goal was her first of her collegiate career.
