TEMPE, Ariz. - No. 18 Texas A&M shut out the Lobos, 6-0, making New Mexico 4-5 on the season and 2-2 at the Fiesta Bowl Softball Tournament hosted by Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz.

Texas A&M took control of the game thanks to a four-run third inning where Adrian Gregory got the scoring started with a line drive home run to center field. Gregory took the delivery and deposited it over the fence scoring Sharonda McDonald who reached on a bunt single. The Aggies added to their lead when Jana James roped a double to right center and then scored on a Kristin Gunter double to the same spot. Gunter gave the Aggies their fourth run of the inning when she crossed the plate on a Wilhelmson single that skipped past a diving senior Ora Hensley playing at shortstop.

The Aggies added two runs to their lead in the fourth inning when James drove in Joy Davis and McDonald with a single up the middle. The speedy duo each reached on base hits and moved to third and second, respectively, on stolen bases. Davis nabbed her fifth and sixth stolen bases while McDonald stole her seventh of the season.

Texas A&M pitcher Jill Weynand (3-0) was dominant from the circle mowing down a career high 12 batters in a complete game effort where she allowed three hits and did not walk a batter. Getting the three hits for the Lobos were junior Ashley Shartzer and sophomores Stephanie Kennedy and Jamar Bynum.

Senior Amy Dumas started the game for the Lobos, hurling 2.1 innings, allowing seven hits and striking out two. Junior Ashley Perkins threw 4.2 innings in relief, giving up only four hits and striking out three.
