COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. --- University of New Mexico sophomore Ashley Grisdale led the Lobos to a win over Air Force on Saturday in Colorado Springs, Colo. UNM faced Air Force and Colorado State in a relocated meet from San Diego, Calif. The Lobos beat Air Force, 217-77, but lost to Colorado State, 171-128. The Lobos accumulated a total of 20 top-three finishes. A make-up meet with San Diego State has not been set.

Head Coach Tracy Ljone said, "This was such a great meet for us. Colorado State is a fantastic team. They are swimming very fast and have alot of depth. We were in every race with them and raced them til the end! The majority of the team bettered their times from two weeks ago and some swimmers such as Jennifer Patterson, Ashley Grisdale, Katrina McLoughlin and Carly Hilo had some break out swims. Carrie Quinn also had an amazing meet winning both boards against some top divers. I am really proud of the ladies for being flexible with the last minute travel changes. It was another great meet for us and another step towards conference."

Grisdale placed first in three events. Her first win came in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:07.73, followed by the 100-yard butterfly (57.99) and the 200-yard IM (2:10.79).

Senior diver Carrie Quinn was another Lobo to secure multiple first-place finishes. Quinn won the 3-meter dive (279.55) as well as the 1-meter dive (264.35).

Junior Carly Hilo sealed another first-place finish for the Lobos in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:26.21.

The relay teams came out strong with second- and third-place finishes in the 200-yard medley relay. Second place was captured by Lisa Toelle, Theresa Rogers, Ashley Grisdale and Katrina McLoughlin with a time of 1:49.43. Coming in third was the team of Jennifer Patterson, Andrea Zarins, Nanette Wittenberg and Tori Clarridge at 1:51.36. A second-place finish also came from Theresa Rogers, Tori Clarridge, Sally Bellinger and Katrina McLoughlin in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:39.04.

The Lobos are now 2-3 on the season, 1-3 in Mountain West Conference competition.
