Post game quotes
Utah vs. New Mexico
March 3, 2009

New Mexico head coach Steve Alford:

"We have come a long way since Cancun (0-2 vs. VCU and Drake). I really appreciate the efforts from our guys. We couldn't be happier for our seniors. This is a great group of young men and they represent the University of New Mexico the way it should be represented. For them to go out in their last game at The Pit with a win is special for all of us."

On the seniors' last game:
"All three seniors had great games. One of the things I told them is that regardless of what happens today, you have been very special to the program. For the three of them to make huge contributions tonight was very special for us."

On fan support:
"It's been loud like that for me every home game. Our team has had an incredible atmosphere all year. We've had a lot of special games already in two years. We take pride in our fans. We really appreciate playing in front of this group of people. They energize us."

On Daniel Faris shooting well:
"We know that we had to play offensively inside and then back out. Daniel did a great job of knocking down that 15 footer. He showed a lot of maturity and toughness to step outside and making that shot."

Utah head coach Jim Boylen:

"Turnovers are a point of concern, but I think they are a little skewed because of the offensive fouls and tip balls.

"We played good enough offensively to win and our defensive was awesome. They shoot a higher percentage in this building. They shot 42 percent from the three and we held them to four threes. We played our butt off defensively, but we just couldn't get a rebound at key times, and because of the turnovers and the offensive rebounds they won the possession game. This is a tough team to guard when you have to guard them for eighteen more shots. Got to give them credit, but I have a good team."

On the low number of rebounds for Utah tonight:
"Well the bright side is that we made them miss. The bad side is that we didn't get the ball. They missed 34 shots in their home building. We've got to get those balls."

On the second half:
"We started the half poorly. We had two turnovers to start the half. It wasn't anything they did. We just threw the ball away."
