Albuquerque, N.M.- The University of New Mexico women's tennis head coach Roy Cañada has announced the signing of two additions to next years team. Michaela Bezdickova and Nikolina Grbac have signed their national letter of intent and Cañada believes both will be a great asset to the team.
Bezdickova graduated in May from Gymnazium Hejcin located in Bezdickova's hometown, Olomouc, Czech Republic. Bezdickova finished school at the top of her class. She brings with her an abundance of international experience, which includes some very notable results.
Bezdickova comes from a family that has a rich tradition of great tennis players who have competed at the highest level of the professional tour. Bezdickova's cousin currently plays for Cal Poly.
"Michaela is a very talented athlete," Cañada said. "She is tall and athletic with a huge serve and should prove to be a great asset to the Lobos next season."
Grbac comes to New Mexico from Pula Croatia. She is a 2010 graduate from Boca Raton Prep International School where she has been for the last two years fine-tuning her game in America. Grbac has consistently been ranked top five in Croatia in her age group. The new signee brings with her an extensive resume of international playing experience in many parts of the world.
"Nikolina is a hard worker with a lot of international experience," Cañada said. "She will add a whole new dimension to our team next season."
