MAMARONECK, N.Y. - Senior Madalitso Muthiya and junior Spencer Levin of the University of New Mexico Lobo men's golf team will advance to the match play section of the 104th U.S. Amateur. The Lobos had a school record five players qualify for the prestigious U.S. Amateur, but only Levin and Muthiya finished stroke play in the top-64 out of 312 golfers to advance. Levin finished stroke play in a tie for 12th at 5-over par (70-75), after a 75 today on the par-70, 6,775 Winged Foot Golf Club East Course. Muthiya finished at 9-over par (73-76) in a tie for 42nd, after finishing his first round with a 73 on the East Course and then shooting a second round 76 on the par-70, 7,266 yard Winged Foot Golf Club West Course. Other Lobo finishes were senior Jay Reynolds (77-76) and junior Mark Anderson (74-79) who both finished in a tie for 114th at 13-over and junior Jay Choi finished in a tie for 139th at 15-over par (79-76). The remaining 64 players at the U.S. Amateur will begin match play in a bracketed format tomorrow morning. For tee times, seeding and matches check the U.S. Amateur website at www.usamateur.org.
