Notre Dame, Ind.- Junior Crystal Weiland and sophomore Robyn Miller had outstanding performances on the second day of the Notre Dame Invite. The two finished the day with top times in the finals of their events. Weiland earned fourth place in the 100-yard backstroke with a final time of 59.61. Miller claimed second in the 400 IM with a final time of 4:30.41 and earned eighth place in the 200-yard free (1:56.02).
Whitney Thomson also competed in the 400 IM with teammate Miller. The Allen, Texas native swam to a sixth place finish with a final time of 4:38.63.
Junior Aimee Dunavant also placed well in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing 15th respectively. Dunavant had a final time of 1:01.16.
In the 200-yard medley, UNM 'A' team finished 13th with a time of 1:52.10 and the 'B' team completed the race in 1:56.14 to give them 20th place.
The final swimming event of the day for New Mexico was the 800-yard free relay. The UNM 'A' team finished seventh with a time of 7:52.07 and the 'B' team finished 15th with a time of 7:57.80.
There were no diving events on the second day of the invite. The UNM diving team will be back to compete on the final day of competition in the 1-meter dive.
The last day of the Notre Dame Invite is Saturday Dec. 6.
