Box Score

DENTON, Texas - Southwest Missouri State scored seven runs on six hits to give the New Mexico softball team (2-11) its third consecutive loss at the Betlin Mean Green Classic hosted by North Texas.

The Bears held a 7-0 lead after four innings. Their biggest inning was the fourth when they scored three runs on one hit while the Lobos committed two errors.

Junior Cassie Chavez got the Lobos on the board in the sixth with a two-out hit that drove in sophomore Ryanne Hodgins. But that was all the Lobos would muster, ending the inning in the next at bat and then recording three straight outs in the seventh.

Senior Ashley Perkins took the loss, throwing three innings for five hits, four earned runs, two walks and two strikeouts. Junior Katie Gregg tossed three innings of relief, allowing one hit, two earned runs, no walks and two strikeouts.

New Mexico's 5 p.m. game against Western Michigan has been cancelled for the day due to rain. The Lobos and Broncos will try to make it up tomorrow at 2 p.m.
