ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- New Mexico softball hosts Colorado State this weekend at Lobo Field. The Lobos and Rams will play two games starting Saturday at 7 p.m. The finale is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m. The games will be available via gametracker and a live broadcast will be available via all-access on www.GoLobos.com. UNM enters the CSU series with an 18-14 overall record and is 2-2 in Mountain West Conference action. The Rams are 20-14 on the season and 1-3 in league play.
New Mexico has won three of its last five games including a 7-6 victory over New Mexico State Tuesday in Las Cruces. The Lobos are two victories shy of tying their 2007 total and have 19 games remaining on the schedule. UNM is led offensively by senior Lindsey Elcess who is hitting .368 with a team-leading nine home runs. The Lobos have three starters hitting over .300 and have a .263 team average.
The Rams enter the week with a 20-14 overall record and have a 1-3 Mountain West Conference mark. CSU leads the conference with a .306 team batting average and have hit a league leading 43 home runs. The Rams rank among the best in the MWC in runs scored (2nd), doubles (2nd), hits (2nd) and RBI (2nd). CSU is led offensively by Lauren Cusick and Caitlan Stem. Both are hitting .386 this season. Cusick leads the league in runs scored (40) and home runs (14). The Rams have used as many as four pitchers.
Saturday will be the 84th meeting between the two programs. CSU won three of the four games with New Mexico last season and lead the overall series, 42-41.
