TUCSON, Ariz. - One bad inning dooms the Lobos, as they lose on the road to No. 11 Arizona by a score of 12-3.

Arizona struck first in the bottom of the third inning, as first baseman Cole Frenzel sent an RBI double to left field to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead. Lobos' starting pitcher Richard Olson didn't get rattled by the double, however, as he was able to collect himself and get the next two batters to pop out to end the inning.

UNM was held scoreless for the first four innings of the game by Arizona's starting pitcher Konner Wade. The Lobos were finally able to break Wade down in the fifth by scoring two runs to take the lead, 2-1. Second baseman Kyle Stiner had a hand in both runs as he laid down a sacrifice bunt to bring in Alex Allbritton, and was later driven in by a Ben Woodchick RBI single. After giving up the two runs, Wade was replaced in favor of reliever Bryce Bandilla.  Bandilla got the Wildcats out of the inning by forcing UNM's left fielder Luke Campbell to ground into a double play.

Arizona didn't let the Lobos' lead last long, as the Wildcats answered right back by scoring 11 runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead, 12-2. Catcher Jett bandy brought in the first run of the inning on a sacrifice fly to center that scored second baseman Bryce Ortega. Right fielder Steve Selsky got another RBI for the wildcats, as he reached on a fielder's choice that resulted in an out at second base, but also brought home Joey Rickard. After surrendering another run, UNM replaced Olson in favor of sophomore Austin House. House needed just one out to finish the inning but he couldn't get it, as he gave up four runs, before being replaced by fellow sophomore Oscar Almeida. The Wildcats kept their two-out rally alive against Almeida, scoring three more runs before the final out of the inning was recorded.

The Lobos were able to add another run in the seventh, cutting the lead to 12-3, as Stiner brought home Allbritton on a sacrifice fly. It was too little too late for the Lobos, unfortunately, as Arizona already had the game sealed.

The Lobos lost the game by a final score of 12-3. Arizona's Bandilla (2-1) got the win, while UNM's Olson (1-3) was credited with the Loss.

With the loss, UNM says goodbye to their six-game winning streak as it falls to 9-16 on the season. Arizona improves to 18-7 on the season with the victory.

Tomorrow's game is slated for a noon start and will feature lefty Sam Wilson (1-1, 5.00 ERA) of the Lobos versus left-hander Vincent Littleman (1-2, 7.27 ERA) of the Wildcats.
