Coetzee And Kowalski Earn National Singles Rankings

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Senior Divan Coetzee is ranked No. 27 nationally in singles and junior David Kowalski is 72nd in the ITA individual rankings released today. The rankings are determined by the ITA National Ranking Committee.

Coetzee, ranked No. 92 in the fall, holds the highest ranking of any Mountain West Conference or Region VII individual athlete. This is the first national singles ranking for Kowalski.

On the doubles list, Kowalski and classmate Ryan Stotland are listed at No. 37. The tandem was ranked No. 33 in the fall.

The New Mexico men's tennis team is ranked No. 56 in today's poll, which is also where they finished in the rankings to end the 2002-03 season. The team rankings are voted on by every member of the ITA Regional Committees. The next team ranking will be released Jan. 27th.

As of today, the Lobos will face four teams ranked higher in Harvard (29), Boise State (30), San Diego State (33), and Brown (46). New Mexico will host BSU, Feb. 27 at 5 p.m. and SDSU on April 10 at 2 p.m.

Opening the season at home on Jan. 25 at 11 a.m., the Lobos will face Northern Arizona in the First State Bank/Comcast Invitational.
