Older players will have the benefit of playing in front of scouts and college coaches and can gain a better understanding of what is expected of them if they want to play baseball at the next level.

Rich Alday
Head Coach
UNM Lobos - 17th year

Now in his 17th season as the head coach of Lobo baseball, Rich Alday is already second on the school's all-time victory list and has led the Lobos to more than any other coach in school history.

Under Alday, UNM won the 2000 Mountain West Conference regular season title and he was named the league's inaugural coach of the year. He has also coached on a national level and was on the Team USA staff in 1988 and 1996, which both won Olympic medals with such stars as Tino Martinez, Jack McDowell, Andy Benes and Robin Ventura.

A two-time WAC coach of the year, Alday has won over 800 games in an illustrious collegiate career. He won more than 450 games at Pima Community College in Arizona, where he began the program and turned it into a national junior college power from 1972-88. Alday is a 1971 graduate of Emporia State, where he was an All-American catcher. He played professionally in the Washington Senators organization before coaching.
