Albuquerque, N.M. - University of New Mexico head volleyball coach Jeff Nelson has announced that the teams' annual banquet will be held on Friday, April 1 at the MCM Elegante' Hotel. Fans can purchase tickets for $40 per person, or an 8-person table for $300 and join in to help celebrate the 2010 season, one in which the Lobos won 20 games for a third straight season and advanced to their second consecutive NCAA Tournament.

The evening will begin at the MCM Elegante' with a social from 6-6:30 p.m., and dinner and the banquet will follow at 6:30 p.m. Jeff Nelson, who was the 2010 Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year, will serve as the Master of Ceremonies.

In 2010, the Lobos had their third consecutive 20-win season for the first time in 19 years, as they finished 20-10 overall, and 12-4 in the Mountain West Conference. The squad set a school record for MWC wins, finished 12th nationally in average attendance, and saw over 33,000 fans head to the Johnson Center to watch the Lobos. Of course, they advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season after a 15-year absence.

Along with recapping the season and presenting awards, the Lobos will also honor their four departing seniors in Jade Michaelsen, Lisa Meeter, Taylor Hadfield, and Amy Wong. Michaelsen and Meeter were both named AVCA honorable mention All-America in 2010, and Hadfield earned that same honor in 2009. All three were named All-Mountain West, and Wong battled back from an injury to help the Lobos to their second straight NCAA berth.

Lobo volleyball fans are encouraged to join the team on April 1st at the MCM Elegante' hotel, located on Menaul, for the banquet. For more information of purchasing tickets or a table, contact Jordie Hadfield at 505-277-0102 or jordie@unm.edu.
