ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- New Mexico head coach Mike Locksley announced today the signing of OL Justin Robbins to a National Letter of Intent. Robbins is the 19th player to sign with the Lobo football program.
Robbins is a massive junior college offensive lineman that is expected to fill a void at tackle for the Lobos in 2010. He spent two years at Nassau Community College in Long Island, N.Y. Robbins played for head coach Jermaine Miles and helped Nassau go 8-2 in 2009. He is a 2008 graduate of Plainfield (N.J.) High School where he played both ways in the trenches. Robbins also lettered in basketball in high school.
Coach Locksley on Justin Robbins:
"He gives us much-needed help from the junior college ranks. He's a big offensive tackle that's very, very athletic. We had a chance to see him play basketball at junior college. He's light on his feet, a great knee bender, and tremendous flexibility. He's athletic enough to get to the second level, able pull and make plays for us, and a guy that I think is a prototypical right tackle."
