Hemmingsson Earns 9th Career Victory

NORDEN, Calif. --- Senior Malin Hemmingsson earned her ninth career victory in a University of New Mexico uniform, winning today's Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association slalom qualifier. It was her second slalom win in two days. Hemmingsson was one of four Lobo women to finish in the top-12 as freshmen Anne Cecilie Brusletto was on her heels in second place and Kate Williams was in eighth. Sophomore Jacqueline Hangl finished in 12th place.

On the men's side, the Lobos put five racers in the top-17. Sophomore Petter Brenna was the top UNM skier in fifth place, followed by freshman Chris Acosta in eighth. Junior Thomas Schwab, freshman Chriss Salbu and senior Olivier Lacaille placed 13, 15 and 17, respectively.

The No. 1-ranked New Mexico Lobos head back out on the road this week for the 2010 NCAA West Region/RMISA Championships, Feb. 26-27, in Steamboat Springs, Colo. Conference honors will be announced this week at the championships banquet on Thursday night.
