Brian Urlacher was perhaps the greatest player ever to don the University of New Mexico cherry and silver uniform and now, as part of the 2004 Homecoming festivities, the UNM Department of Athletics is proud to announce the release of Brian Urlacher collectible bobblehead dolls, sponsored by Bank of Albuquerque. These limited edition bobbleheads will be handed out to the first 1,200 fans in attendance at Saturday's football game versus San Diego State. Gates at University Stadium will open at 3 p.m., with kickoff set for 4:37.

Urlacher, a linebacker/safety hybrid under head coach Rocky Long, completed his collegiate career in 1999 in grand fashion: consensus first team All-America; finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, an honor given to the nation's top defensive back; Heisman Trophy vote recepient; and the highest-drafted Lobo all-time when the Chicago Bears took him with the ninth overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft.

The Lovington, N.M. native led the nation in tackles (178) as a junior and finished his career third all-time at UNM with 442 tackles. In his first season with the Bears, Urlacher was voted the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year. The four-time NFL All-Pro will also be honored with a pre-game highlight video on Saturday.
